The longest punt in college football history happened Oct. 28, 1950
Today marks the 67th anniversary of the longest punt in NCAA and college football history. Pat Brady, the specialist for the University of Nevada, set the record in 1950 with a 99-yard punt against Loyola Marymount.
The punt itself sailed about 70 yards in the air before it rolled down past the 1-yard line in the original Mackay Stadium. There hasn't been a punt marked 99 yards since that day on Oct. 28.
The punter went on to have a successful stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he led the NFL in punting in 1953 and 1954. Brady was named to the Steelers' 50th and 75th anniversary teams in 1982 and 2007.
Records are made to be broken, but Brady's name will always be at the top for this one.
